The great thing about underfloor heating is that there is very little waste heat as gently increasing the floor temperature ends up maintaining a temperature of say 22 deg c rather than a super hot radiator which then cools and reheats causing swings in heat

Electrical resistance can only be used for heating. Therefore, when space cooling is also required, water based counterpart are used extensively.

I installed underfloor heating last year all throughout downstairs. We installed it onto suspended wooden flooring and laid good quality laminate on top. Nobody could tell us whether it would work or not and some openly said they would not recommend it. We went ahead and chose to take a chance. The heating is fantastic! It's hot within an hour when you first put it on, then we play with the tempaerature and have it cooler in the day (but not off) and warm at night. Immediately, our electricity bill went down by £20 a month. The room stays warm and at times can actually be hotter than other parts of the house! Just do it, you won't regret it...

This is not a weekend project. As always with jobs like this preparation is paramount to success. I've fit kitchens, halls and conservatories with underfloor heating mats and the process requires calculated decisions.

Wow I'll admit underfloor heating is much cheaper than I thought it would be! I imagine the cost of electricity compared to traditional heating must be higher though?
